An invitation to the Islamophobia Awareness Month event (IAM)

Every year Islington Council with Muslim Organisations in Islington deliver an exciting programme of equality events that aim to provide learning and opportunities to celebrate the diversity, and rich culture that exists in our borough. For this year’s Islamophobia Awareness Month event is crucial especially when we know that almost 40% of the religious hate crime attacked are against Muslims, therefore we want to create a safe and supportive space for sharing stories and the lived experiences of Islington’s Muslim residents. We want to create opportunities for understanding.

#MuslimStories is an event, which celebrates the stories of our Muslim community. It will also raise awareness and understanding of their experiences of living in the borough and the steps that are being taken to create a safe and supportive environment for the community.

Date: Wednesday 29 November 2023

Time: 5.00 – 7.30pm

Venue: Islington Town Hall, Upper Street N1 2UD

FPM annual Visit My Mosque day is back on Sunday 24th September 2023

We are glad to announce that our 12th annual neighborhood open day will be taking place on Sunday 24th September 2023 from 12 noon – 5pm where we expect hundreds of people from our local community to attend, and we would like to invite you to join us in this special day.

Our Mosque is taking part in the MCB national #VisitMyMosque initiative since it started, and in the spirit of friendship and conversation we hope to give members of the local community an engaging insight into the life of the Mosque and to promote greater understanding of the religion of Islam and to build bridges between faiths and communities.

Last year’s event was fantastic when groups, families and individuals visited our centre and enjoyed our exhibition, films and tour in the Mosque as well as henna and graffiti (name written in Arabic style) and we expect this to happen again this year with more attractive functions to take place, also our volunteers will be distributing on the day a goodies bag to our guests with a massage about the importance of Kindness and neighbourhood relationship.

Islington Council and Islington Police who support the event will be having a stall during the event.

All are welcome
